We are pleased to announce the signing of young Blackburn Rovers defender, Scott Wharton, on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old defender comes to Sincil Bank after progressing through the ranks at Ewood Park before making a number of first team appearances for the club as well as having a spell last season at Cambridge United on loan.
Wharton, born in Blackburn, adds balance to the Imps defence as he is primarily a left sided centre back who has gained valuable experience after making a quick start to his career.
Wharton made his full debut for Rovers against Burton Albion in August 2016 after impressing in pre season, before then netting his first goal in professional football against Crewe Alexandra in the League Cup just three days later.
After featuring four more times for the first team, he also appeared in the Checkatrade Trophy before making the temporary switch to the Cambs Glass Abbey Stadium on loan.
Wharton made nine appearances for The U’s during his spell with the club scoring one goal, and picking up a host of man of the match awards in the process.
Keep an eye out for reaction to the move from Scott, which will be here on our official website, also on Imps iFollow and across our social media platforms.
