Attacking midfielder Joan Luque has signed for Lincoln City, subject to international clearance, on an initial six-month deal for an undisclosed fee from Bostik League North side, Heybridge Swifts.
The 26-year-old first linked up with the Imps squad during the pre-season tour in his native Spain, after scoring 30 times and registered 18 assists as he was named in the Bostik League Team of the Year for 2017/18.
Luque impressed, and remained on trial throughout pre-season, featuring numerous times in central and wide roles, and also travelled with the squad to Northampton Town for the league opener.
His CV includes a two-year spell with the Barcelona Academy between the ages of 11 and 13, but made his first venture in the British football with Heybridge Swifts after impressing during a trial period in the summer of 2017.
Luque was part of a Swifts side who reached the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup last season during an eight-game cup run, which eventually see the Essex side defeated by Exeter City.
"It's actually a dream come true because I’ve spent 21 years playing football trying to achieve being a professional," Luque said.
"I’ve sacrificed many things to become a proessional like being away from family. This will be the fifth year im away from my family, and having to sacrifice a lot makes it sweeter now that I have achieved it.
"I am so excited to be playing in front of 10,000 fans here at Lincoln City, it'll be the biggest crowd I've ever played in front of and can't wait to get started."
The Spaniard will take the number 19 shirt, and will be at Sincil Bank for Saturday's Sincil Bank opener against Swindon Town.
