Imps boss Danny Cowley was amazed to see so many Imps fans turn out in force to see his side beat Coventry City 4-2 at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night.

Cowley was also impressed with how his players turned up, especially Ollie Palmer who scored twice in the first half to give Lincoln a half-time lead.

"I thought Ollie was incredible. It was good to see he played 90 minutes. I don't know how he he's done that because he hadn't played a full match for a long time but he's trained very hard. He was very impressive from start to finish and we played much better with him."

Lincoln had played four games in ten days prior to the match at Coventry, and Cowley thought the level of commitment shown from his players was solid.

"I thought it was a really good win and for my players to perform with the determination and desire and the physical fitness that they did makes me really proud to see them," he said.

That win has put the Imps within touching distance of confirming a play-off place but Cowley believes that is important for the team to not celebrate too early in their long quest for promotion.

"Just another step in our journey really. We know Coventry are a really good team and I think tonight we probably punched them really hard a couple of times in the first half, which hasn't allowed them to play at their best.

"We're not over-celebrating because we know that we're probably going to have to see Coventry again if we're going to get to Wembley once more."

Over 3,000 Lincoln City supporters attended the match at the Ricoh Arena and Cowley was proud by the atmosphere coming from them.

"They were amazing! Unbelievable! I've been to the Ricoh Arena twice recently against Luton and Stevenage and it was quite quiet but it wasn't to the fans who had arrived. I thought they were just tremendous and another really good night for Lincoln City Football Club," said Cowley.
