We are delighted to announce that Alex Woodyard has signed a new contract with the club, which will extend his stay until the summer of 2019.

The player of the season award winner had initially signed a new deal to keep him at Sincil Bank until the end of this season, but has today extended that until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The midfielder joined the Imps from Braintree in June 2016, becoming Danny Cowley's first signing as City's boss.

Alex said: "I enjoyed my time here last year, it was a great season and I believe the club is moving forward."

Woodyard scored once last season during the Imps' 3-2 win at Forest Green Rovers.
