FT: Solihull Moors 0 Imps 1

Muldoon strike secures another hard-earned three points on the road for City...

Elliott Whitehouse and Jack Muldoon replaced Alan Power and Theo Robinson as the Imps returned to Vanarama National League action with an away match at a soggy Solihull Moors.

Whilst Robinson was unavailable for selection, Power was joined on the bench by Adam Marriott, Sean Long, Joe Ward and new loan signing Josh Ginnelly.

The pitch was very heavy under foot as referee Antony Coggins led the two teams out of the tunnel and judging by the reception it looked like the majority of fans present were supporting the table-topping Imps, who got the game underway.

The first action of note came in the form of a third minute yellow card after Bradley Wood was taken out by Harry White and five minutes later Muldoon showed good strength to shake off his marker before drilling a low effort a foot wide of the target.

On the quarter-hour mark Calum Flanagan flew in two-footed on Nathan Arnold - and fortunately didn't connect - but referee Coggins was happy to let play continue with the hosts going on to win a corner. This was swung in to the near post and headed against the post by George Carline before the City defence scrambled the ball clear.

The Imps' response saw a deflected Muldoon shot lead to a corner which was whipped in by Arnold and headed over by Luke Waterfall and as the half-hour mark approached a sweeping City move ended with Muldoon setting up Whitehouse who saw his left-footed volley held at the second attempt by Nathan Baxter. Muldoon was then booked for moving in front of Baxter as he prepared to drop kick the ball forward.

At the other end White sliced a shot well wide following a long punt forward from the home defence whilst the Imps' next attempt towards goal saw Muldoon fire over from range.

Five minutes before the break Farman picked out Waterfall with a free-kick and the City skipper saw his header bounce just wide after Baxter came and flapped at the ball.

The half ended after an additional two minutes of play.
