Ollie Palmer was delighted to get back on the scoresheet against Accrington Stanley last night and says that although it’s still four games from the final of the competition, Wembley is something to aim for.
The Imps’ striker was pleased to net his fourth goal of the season against Stanley and was happy for the supporters who he rates as the best he’s played in front of.
“It was a good layoff from Greeny, and it ricocheted back to me and I slotted it home, I can’t remember much more than that sometimes you get lost in a blur after a goal!” He admitted.
“Our fans are the best I’ve played for, Luton had big crowds when I was there but they’re nowhere near as vocal as the supporters here. The support they give us really means a lot to the players, a lot of people don’t show as much respect to the competition, but the further you go the boys start smelling Wembley.
“We all want to play in the bigger stadiums and win things, it’s just as important as the League. Our main aim is to do as well in the League as we can, and get promoted if we can but whist we’re in this competition it’s just as important.
“We’re here to win things and the gaffer makes it clear we owe it to the fans, he talks about them before every game the support is so noticeable. They spend their hard earned money and time to come and follow us, home and away in big numbers.
“When you’re living in Lincoln it’s all people talk about, it’s football, football, football.”
