Danny Cowley was happy with his side after the club’s first victory at Huish Park on Saturday which lifted City into the SkyBet League Two playoff spots ahead of the busy Christmas period.

"It was a good win for us, to score two goals and keep a clean sheet is a good outcome for us." He said.

“We were strong, determined and resolute, we showed all the ingredients you need if you’re going to win away from home.”

“We haven’t kept as many clean sheets as in the last five or six games as we would have liked, so it was nice to keep a clean sheet today.”

The Imps’ manager served praise on Matt Rhead who netted his third goal of the season and was involved in the build up to Matt Green’s opening goal and Cowley said the performance from all the players across the game was closer to the levels that everyone is looking for.

“He was brilliant for the first goal (Rhead), and the second one is a great goal. Greeny links with Neal Eardley and he puts in a ball to die for, and the big one shows great movement at the back post and headed it in.”

“We were looking for a ninety minute performance and we certainly looked a lot closer to that. “

“We’re four points off third place which is nice, that looks good. There’s not much between the teams in the league, it was a great game for us and we’re so pleased for the supporters. They were fantastic, we wanted to go and get amongst them at the end of the game and show our appreciation to them, it’s a long way to go just before Christmas.”
