Football League Festival A Huge Success

Our Youth Academy hosted a festival of football recently as part of a series of regional festivals pioneered by The Football League.

This season, as part of its regional fixture programme, The Football League piloted a round of festivals and invited clubs to participate and, if they so wished, to host an event. And as Lincoln City’s schoolboy and scholarship teams still compete in The Football League games programme, they too were invited to take part.

And while many of the Club’s academy teams took part in festivals held around the region, the Under 11 squad played host to Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Grimsby Town.

"We were delighted to be asked by the Football League to host the U11 Festival," said Damian Froggatt, Academy Manager.

"This was the first festival of football we have hosted with so many clubs from across the region attending and the event was a great success. It’s a brilliant initiative from The Football League to include these festival weekends in the games programme and we hope it will continue next season.

"I’d like to thank the hard work of the many parents and volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly and of course all the players from every club for their participation."
