Bradford Fire Disaster - 30th Anniversary Commemorations

There will be a minute's silence on Saturday to remember those who lost their lives at Valley Parade 30 years ago.

On 11 May 1985 at Valley Parade, Bradford, a devastating fire broke out in the main stand during our Football League Third Division fixture against Bradford City. As a consequence of that fire 56 football fans - including our own Bill Stacey and Jim West - lost their lives and over 250 other supporters were injured on that day, many with serious burns.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the disaster the Football League, with the support of the Football Conference and the rest of the football family, are marking the occasion in a tangible manner by raising funds for The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford.

Although the official commemoration will take during the course of next weekend, 25-27th April, we have been given the opportunity to launch the appeal and the anniversary on Saturday afternoon at our final home fixture of the season when we play host to Eastleigh in front of the BT Sport cameras.

As such, a period of silence will take place prior to kick-off at 12.15pm.

Donations to the 30th Anniversary Commemoration may be sent to:
