Success for U15/16 day release programme

Everyone in City’s Academy is delighted that the first year of the U15/16 day release programme has concluded its first season successfully.

The programme saw 20 students come out once a week from 18 different schools across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to participate in a variety of lessons alongside their football development sessions.

Emma Metheringham, City Academy’s head of education, said: “Education is an important part of the day and we would like to thank our partner schools.

“A special mention also goes to our amazing tutors Terry Crawshaw, Elaine Crawshaw and Molly Banks for helping us deliver quality sessions to help the boys maintain and in some cases exceed their target grades.

“We also want to thank Charlie Parks (second year scholar) who has been volunteering to help out with individuals on a one to one basis.”

All of the students involved were fully engaged with the lessons, and the following three have been chosen to receive special awards for their work throughout the year.
  • Josh Blant 'Day Release Student of the Year'
  • Kian Sagoo 'Best Progress and Engagement in Maths'
  • Lewy Oliver 'Best Progress and Engagement in English'
