U18 coach Sam TIllen was pleased with the intensity his side showed in Friday’s win over Notts County.
A double from Carter Ford set up the victory, with Zane Okoro and Dakara Wifa also on the scoresheet for the young Imps.
Tillen felt the performance was a step up from last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Rotherham United
He said: “There are areas to improve, but was a great response from the boys and a pleasing win.
“We created a high number of opportunities in the first half and almost scored within the first 30 seconds of the game. We played with a good intensity and better technical execution in the crucial moments would have given us an unassailable led at the break.”
Ford opened the scoring just before the interval, giving Tillen’s side the half-time lead. Okoro doubled City’s advantage early in the second period, with Carter adding his second before Wifa turned home Resharne McLean’s smart delivery to round off the scoring.
Tillen added: “We started the second half a little slowly and allowed Notts County to get back into the game, but after Zane’s goal we turned the momentum
“Overall it was a pleasing result and performance but still areas to improve ahead of our fixture against Bradford next week.”
