Zane Okoro is happy to have contributed two goals in City U18’s 3-0 win against Notts County in the FA Youth Cup first round.
The forward bagged a brace in the second half at Meadow Lane before Russell Berko rounded off a special night for the young Imps with a goal after coming off the bench.
Okoro said: “I am really happy with the team and am delighted to have contributed with two goals which has seen us through to the next round.
“For my first goal Bailey Adamson found me in the box and I just had to put it into the back of the net. I then managed to find a pocket of space and was able to turn and strike with my left foot between the defenders to secure my second of the night.
“It meant a lot to me to get on the scoresheet - it’s definitely a memory to take with me, but now I’m looking forward to the next round.”
Okoro was also keen to praise his team-mates for their contributions to the convincing victory on Tuesday night.
Okoro continued: “Bailey Adamson was working really hard throughout the game so I’m pleased he got an assist, and the whole backline really put in a shift too.
“I think it’s a real boost because winning football matches always gives you a lot of confidence and that should help us in our upcoming games, especially round two of the FA Youth Cup.”
