Ash Foyle is eager for his side to take their opportunities in Friday’s FA Youth Cup tie against Barnsley.
The young Imps are full of confidence ahead of their third round fixture at Oakwell following 3-0 and 5-0 wins in the previous rounds, and Foyle has expressed the importance of utilising the stage the competition provides for his players.
He said: “To get through both rounds convincingly was pleasing for us and should fill us with confidence going into this fixture. Even though we had comfortable wins, we still had some players who can perform better which is a really exciting way of thinking about it.
“The stage the FA Youth Cup provides players with gives them the opportunity to make an impression on key members of staff and we have spoken to the lads about ensuring they use the opportunity to put in a good performance because you never know in football, things move really quickly.”
Foyle is also eager for his side to learn from the opportunity of playing at a new stadium and is hopeful his players can draw on the experiences gained from picking up a positive result at Meadow Lane earlier in the competition.
He added: “Going down to Notts County and playing at a new stadium was a new experience for our lads. They managed to deal with that pretty well on the night and hopefully that experience will stand them in good stead ready for this round.
“Playing in a new environment on a new surface and in a new stadium can make it difficult during the early stages of the game. It’s important to get into a good rhythm to compete against what will be a really dynamic, aggressive and intense Barnsley team.”
Kick-off for this fixture is 6.30pm and tickets for the match at Oakwell is free from the West Stand.
