Parks impressed with desire

Charlie Parks was impressed with the desire his side showed in an extra-time defeat to Barnsley in the FA Youth Cup.

The defender played the full match after Bailey Adamson equalised from the penalty spot to force the game into extra-time, but it was not enough to progress as the Tykes scored the winning goal in the 113th minute.

Parks said: “It was a very good shift, I’m proud of lads as we worked so hard throughout the game and then it’s disappointing to lose like that but it’s a bit of magic from Fabio Jalo.

“It’s a good calibre of players they’ve got, but the work rate and desire that we showed throughout the game was very good.”

Parks also praised City's character for responding to a set-back in the second-half and sending the game to extra-time.

He added: “The lads did well to get us back in the game. It was a good bit of play down the left-hand side to get us into that position."
