Ash Foyle has applauded City’s U17 who battled their way to the Floodlit Cup semi-finals.
The young Imps beat Shrewsbury Town 3-0 to progress to the next stage of the competition, with goals coming from Carter Ford and a Russell Berko brace.
He said: “It was a really pleasing evening as the game asked us many questions and the group of young players showed that they had the answer to most.
“We always looked in control and defended really well which was even more pleasing considering two of the back four were U15s.”
Foyle was also particularly happy with the versatility his side showed to adapt to the game and set up a semi-final tie against Bolton Wanderers.
He added: “We showed that we can play both a physical and technical game, although we still have to make better decisions when which version is needed.
“I am really pleased that this group have had another positive experience and one that will hopefully carry us into a semi-final with bags of confidence and belief."
