Ted Bishop is relishing the prospect of playing a greater role for the Imps this season.
Bishop made his first start of the season in a battling draw with Carlisle United at the LNER Stadium on Saturday, and the midfielder wants to keep his place in the starting line-up.
He said: “It felt really good to be back in the team. I’ve had some good cameos from the bench, scoring goals and affecting games.
“I had to wait and be patient for that start to come but hopefully now I can keep that spot.”
The Imps start their EFL Trophy campaign against Derby County and Bishop is hoping to help City be successful in the competition.
He added: “I really want to try and win it. I want us to go as far as we can in the competition.
“It will be a tough game, they’re a good side but we played well there last year so we’ll treat it like any other game and aim to win.”
